Two Belfast historic district gardens on display for Open Garden Days
Event Date
Saturday, August 08, 2026 - 10:00 am to 04:00 pmOn Saturday, Aug. 8, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m., two gardens in the Church Street historic district will be open to the public as part of the 2026 Belfast Garden Club’s Open Garden Days.
The gardens that surround the Allen Insurance Agency, at 94 High Street, are the work of Heather Frey of Dragonfly Gardening and Beneficials.
"These gardens display a beautiful combination of shrubs, perennials, and annuals that provide bloom and color from spring to late fall," said the Belfast Garden Club, in a news release. "The choice of interesting annuals in the front containers add a touch of whimsy."
Just around the corner at 66 Church Street, the family of Anna Strickland will open her beloved garden in her memory.
"Anna’s garden is a hidden gem made up of several spaces encircling the house," said the Garden Club. "Bordered by stone paths and gravel walkways that lead visitors from one floral experience to another, this lush garden pulls you in to explore perennials, herbs, and beautiful dahlias all packed into a quarter of an acre."
Admission to both gardens is a $5 donation that supports the Club’s many civic and educational programs, including its work with elementary and middle school garden programs and the purchase of garden books for area schools.
